2010 Pocono Builders Association Award of Excellence Builder Member for the Allen & Amanda Denny Home
The owners dream came true with the complete transformation of this tired 1940’s ‘Cape Cod’ into a functionally modern home full of character and charm that is just right for their young active family.
The third generation owners of this traditional ‘cape cod’ needed more space and an update to make the house theirs. This goal necessitated a top to bottom renovation to provide more living space and modern features with both new and renovated rooms. Large new bedrooms and a bath were accommodated for in a new second floor with an expanded roof structure including several dormers. A new breezeway and 3 car garage with full 2nd floor replaces the old that was demolished to the foundation to provide for a new great room. A charming front porch with Mahogany floors and bumped out entry way was added. Inside, an open staircase to a second floor balcony and family room with vaulted ceilings and patio doors to the backyard add a dramatic touch. Functionality blended with style is the goal in the new mudroom, laundry & kitchen areas as well as in the expanded master bedroom with new custom tile bath and walk-in closet. Preserving the brick from the old chimney and exposing it in the new powder room is a fine marriage of the old and the new. The owner of the house is now happy to prepare meals for her active family in the spacious gourmet kitchen with custom cherry cabinets, pro-style cook top with hood and desk area for homework. The update of the house did not stop with the aesthetic, it also included all new HVAC, Plumbing; electrical and audio systems as an important part of the project.
