2012 Pocono Builders Association Award for Remodeling Residential interior
Devastating water & mold damage from a broken pipe in this ‘mid-century modern’ home required complete interior renovation to return it to its earlier glory.
The owners were shocked when they returned from a trip to find their beloved family home flooded and covered in mold from a broken heating pipe. The extent of the damage required a gut out of nearly 80% of the home. This unique 1958 custom-designed mid century modern home originally included plaster walls, marble floors, built-in cabinetry, custom tile baths and hand painted wall coverings. The owners’ desire was to preserve the character and feel of the home while updating & restoring many of its special features.
The interior renovations included redesigned tiled bathrooms with custom showers, a remodeled bar and billiard room with new solid maple bar, matching wainscot and trim as well as all new windows, doors and interior trim. All this resulted in much brighter, more inviting spaces.
The restorations included new hand finished plaster walls throughout to match the originals, re-finished marble floors, special cleaning of the original silk wall paper mural in the dining room and wood ceiling in the living room. The project also included new LED and recessed lighting throughout to accent art work and brighten the home.
